the airport, any airport, any city, is one of the most exciting places. there's so much to do and so much going on around you. it's like a secret underground world. constant flux of arrivals and departures, befores and afters, reunions and breakups, hellos and goodbyes. There's overhead announcements and final boarding calls to exotic destinations. there's parents scolding their kids, people yelling into cell phones, and friends talking about their great trips before boarding the planes that will take them home. everyone has a different story, they've just said goodbye to their girlfriend, boyfriend, mom, dad, grandparents, siblings, children. or they're calling those same people telling them they're on their way home. someone running away, someone returning to loved ones, leaving home for work, moving and having to make a whole new life. the airport has every emotion bottled up into one building. crying, laughter, reminicising, bittersweet. i have spent long hours in airports and the airport is one of the best places to sit and people watch. not only are there millions of emotions, you get all kinds of people and some of the outfits you see are just outrageous! you get the buisness men, the people who just want to be comfy, the people who look like they just rolled out of bed, grunge, snotty. it's fun to sit and watch people and make up stories about them and their life. the airport is just a place of many attractions. i could live there. they have everything i need; airplanes, cinnabons, and you can find good places to sleep! for me the airport is the beginning of the next big adventure. sometimes i go there with no idea of where i'm gonna end up that night. i've gone from new york to la to st george to home in just one day. i've been from orlando to atlanta to washington dc. it's just a huge place full of millions of opportunities. it's an escape from boring, everyday routines. to me it's a place of spontaneity, the next adventure in my life. next time you're there stop and think about the person sitting next to you.
and the airplanes themselves are a totally different story. i feel like a time travel when i'm in airplanes, going from different time zones, you're going in to the future or back into the past. "i've seen the paintings from the air brushed by the hand of God" just one amazing view after another. and it never ceases to amaze me that airplanes can actually fly, that something that big and heavy can fly through the air. and it takes you to something new, something different. it's an escape. you can see clouds [being above them and flying...probably the coolest experience. ever.], amazing sunsets, beaches, city lights, mountains, snow, canyons, rain, rivers, fields and you can get so far in just one day!
at the airport, anything is possible.
