13-0!

I hope everyone watched Utah beat Alabama. It was an amazing game, and even more amazing being there! On New Years Eve we got up and caught a flight to Houston, first class all the way. From Houston we rented a Chrysler 300 and started the drive to New Orleans. We stopped and ate lunch and checked out a Harley shop. Actual driving time was about five hours but we like to take our time. We finally got to New Orleans about 9:00, checked into our hotel and started the trek downtown for the New Year's Eve adventure. We got lucky and found a good parking spot on Decatur street which is one of the main streets downtown with lots of little stores and stuff, it's about two blocks from Bourbon Street. New Orleans is quite the party town, waaay worse than Vegas. We all had our Utah gear on and faced the streets. We stopped in a few stores, got a few Utah shirts with the Sugar Bowl logo and all that good stuff. I bought these awesome little voodoo dolls! They are so funny! Mine is the goddess to straighten out your man! haha. New Orleans is kind of a badass town. They are all about skulls, voodoo things, and oddly they had a bunch of peace things. Everywhere you looked you saw people in Alabama or Utah gear. It's a pretty big deal. But pretty much everyone you came across was drunk. That's really all there is to do there, drink. We made our way down to Bourbon Street which was a mad house! That is where most of the Mardi Gra things are done. People were throwing beads from balconies, I got some just for being a Utes fan. All the locals were cheering for Utah because LSU fans hate Alabama. One guy stopped us and was like..."i wanna welcome you to our town, but I just gotta ask...what exactly is a ute?" so we had to explain to him, it was pretty funny. They was also a lot of misprinted things down there. A bunch of shirts said we were in the WAC and spelled Utes as "Uthes." Bourbon Street was crazy! We didn't stay there for very long. People drinking everywhere, smoking like crazy, the whole town smells sooo bad. We walked to this place called Jackson Square which was right along the Mississippi River. We met up with some of our family that was also down there for the game, Josh Bello as well! We hung out by the river talking and cheering for the Utes. Finally midnight rolled along and there were fireworks coming from a barge on the river. It took me forever to figure out where they were coming from! Josh was like..."I think the drunks figured that one out before you!" when i finally figured it out, haha. After the fireworks we went back to Bourbon Street for a while and then back to the hotel. The next day was nothing too exciting, besides the pep rally. We ate at a Waffle House, which are sooo good! Went back to Decatur Street and got my sisters some souveniers, cause thank goodness we left the two younger ones home. We made our way to the Marriot Hotel for the Utes pep rally. There were so many people there! So much red! The team came out and the band and we did cheers and some of the players said some things and it was really cool. When that ended we went to the Fan Fest and listened to Blues Travler play. I sat and watched this drunk guy dance, I was laughing so hard! Drunk people really crack me up. I think he might have been a homeless guy off the street who just came over for the music! We ended up at my aunt's hotel room and just hung out before we went back to our place for bed.
Game day was CRAZY! Before we went downtown we stopped at a few Harley shops and I got some face paint. We went back down to Decatur Street and got a lucky parking spot! We watched this four black guys dance and it was amazing the things they could do! They were so funny too, kept making all these white jokes. It was hilarious. Everyone you saw either had Alabama or Utah on. You didn't see anyone else, unless they had a LSU shirt on and they were cheering for us! We walked to the game and got there pretty early, which was alright. They had all the streets closed around the Superdome. The stadium is actually pretty ghetto. It's a dome, obviously, so it was indoors. It has a ton of levels. We had pretty sweet seats! Lower bowl, sixth row i think, right on the 30 yard line. Utah fans were outnumbered at least 5 to 1 by Bama fans. When the Bama team came out it was a deafening roar. But despite being outnumbered we still made ourselves heard. I don't think Bama even had a student section and ours was there loud and proud! Those of you who saw the game know what happens next...we took it to Alabama and they were not expecting it at all! Our first quarter was AWESOME! Ended up 21-0. That sure shut the Alabama fans up. Second wasn't so strong and Bama brought it to a 4 point game. Half time show was laaaame. High school bands played. The game ended 31-17, giving the Utes a perfect season. 13-0, only undefeated team in the nation. I think we deserve the national championship. We are undefeated and we didn't exactly have an easy season. But no one EVER gives Utah any credit. Before the game Bama fans were walking around like they owned the place and thought this game was gonna be a walk in the park. Boy, were they mistaken! The atmosphere was so cool! Utah fans were going crazy! Most Albama fans left with five minutes to go in the game. And Louie got to kick a field goal! I love him. By the end of the game all Bama fans were gone and the Utes were soo happy! We stayed a while to watch them get the trophy and then slowly made our way back to the car. The whole walk you could just see Utah fans everywhere just cheering as we walked away. It was the coolest experience. We walked by this little old, black Bama lady who said "you guys whooped our ass!" funny coming from a little old lady and it pretty much summed up the game! Once we got to our car we ate at Burger King, finally leaving New Orleans at 12:30. We drove right to Houston getting there at 5:45 and caught a 6:40 flight home. As soon as we got home we had to go get my sisters from my grandparents. Long day to say the least. But I am soooo glad I was able to go to the game. It was an experience of a lifetime! I can now say I've been to New Orleans and I wouldn't be bothered if I didn't ever go back.

I got to see Russell last night and it made me so happy! I didn't see Samir all break. :( But we had a nice chat today. I miss that kid. He will forever be one of my best friends. I can [and do] tell him everything. I am just getting ready to head back to Logan. I'm not as excited to go back as I was. Ali bet me five dolla that I go to Brian's place tonight, but i'm gonna win me five bucks! I'll be back in a few weeks cause the farwells start. :( that is the weirdest thought to me... All of our guys leaving...I am going to miss them like crazy and it'll be such a party when they all get back!
